Opportunities in Swale...

There are a number of clubs and organisations providing opportunities in Swale -

Remember to contact the club/organisation before you attend to ask any questions you have on their activities.

Background to Fencing...

It is said that the modern activity of Fencing started to develop around the 18th and 19th centuries with the use of the sword as a military weapon declining and it was a way to keep the tradition and skills developed over centuries alive.

The modern activity has three disciplnes (foil, the épée and the sabre) for individuals to compete agaisnt each other as well and contributing to a club or team score. A discipline of fencing has been present in all of the modern Olympics as well as the Paralympics.

Local clubs and organisations will offer training and competeitions along with entry into regional and national events for those that want to develop their skill and involvement.

COVID-19

All activities offered by clubs overseen by a National Governing Body will be required to adhere to new procedures to protect participants. British Fencing is working with Sport England to support providers to get back to activities.
