Badminton is a sport played on a court, generally indoors, with a racquet and hitting a shuttlecock over a net; it can be played between two people (singles) or in pairs (doubles).
The sport has been around for hundreds of years with several formats contributing to the modern game, rules and competitions. Played across the world it is an Olympic and Paralympic sport as well as having its own local, national and international events.
It is also one of the non-contact sports that males and females can compete against each other.
