Enjoy Sheppey's blue flag and seaside award beaches which are seasonally lifeguarded
The Isle of Sheppey has three beautiful resort/bathing beaches which have been awarded Blue Flag and Seaside Awards for the 2022 season with good bathing water quality expected, at Sheerness Beach, Minster Leas Beach and Leysdown Beach.
Adjacent to Bartons Point Coastal Park on Marine Parade Sheerness you can also enjoy Minster Shingle Bank Beach.
Discover the 'Sheppey Shoreline' (downloadable pdf) - a family guide to the wildlife that can be found across the island's beaches. Print off the guide and take it with you and see what you can find and identify, remembering to follow the Seashore Code.
If you're thinking of heading to one of our beaches, we want to remind everyone to be careful and remember the risks when visiting the seaside. Currently no lifeguards on duty at our bathing beaches at the moment, (operating at peak season) so we’re reminding people to use their common sense in and around the water, and stay safe.
So, if you are going to the beach please remember:
▪️Be careful in and around the water
▪️Watch children at all times
▪️Do not use inflatables
▪️Clear up after yourself
Stay safe, #RespectTheWater and #BeBeachSafe
As you will expect with the beautiful coastline and maritime history there are local clubs and organisations that provide opportunities for all to get involved and make the most of the natural environment.
Have a look at our water sport based pages for more local information -
